Our Story
Launched on World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) in 2010, the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance) is a nonpartisan, independent, public-private national partnership for suicide prevention. The Action Alliance brings together the best thinking and resources from the public and private sectors to steward and advance the goals and objectives of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (National Strategy)—the road map for a comprehensive approach to preventing suicide.
Our Mission
In its role as steward for the National Strategy, the Action Alliance is responsible for setting a shared vision and approach for identifying and coordinating opportunities to build, scale, and strengthen the national response to suicide.
Our Leadership
The Action Alliance is guided by a distinguished group of leaders from the public and private sectors who provide leverage and influence to prioritize suicide prevention at the national level. Sectors represented include automobile, construction, defense, education, entertainment, faith, forestry, health, insurance, justice, law enforcement, mental health, military, news media, professional sporting, railroad, technology, and veteran services.
Our Executive Committee (EXCOM) and advisory groups and task forces guide and support our work. In addition, many other individuals and organizations contribute to the work of the Action Alliance in various ways.
Our Priorities
In its role as steward for the National Strategy, the Action Alliance is responsible for setting a shared vision and approach for identifying and coordinating opportunities to build, scale, and strengthen the national response to suicide. There are five Strategic Priorities that will direct our focus from 2024-2027.
