Webinar - Words Matter: How to Safely Communicate About Suicide
Data suggests that those working in the public safety sector, such as fire, police, EMS, and correctional officers, are at an increased risk for suicide. And while the sector is working hard to prevent suicide, sometimes the way in which suicide is talked about can undermine those prevention efforts. On November 21, the Action Alliance hosted a joint webinar with Lexipol, a leading national organization working with the public safety sector. During the webinar, the Action Alliance and its Public Safety Task Force co-leads shared actionable steps public safety professionals can take to create honest, empathetic, effective messages that support departmental prevention efforts and focus on solutions.
