Andrew Bertagnolli, PhD
Dr. Andrew Bertagnolli is a licensed clinical psychologist who currently serves as the National Clinical Director for Virtual Behavioral Health at Amazon-One Medical. In this role, he leads the design, implementation, and execution of the organization’s behavioral health strategy, which is integrated with Amazon-One Medical's primary care service delivery model.
His responsibilities include the oversight of innovative programs such as a suicide prevention initiative based on the Caring Contacts literature, a collaborative care model for behavioral health, and a national program providing ongoing psychotherapy and coaching. This comprehensive approach aims to enhance the mental and emotional wellness of Amazon-One Medical members across the country. Previously, Dr. Bertagnolli held the position of Vice President of Care/Case Management and Recovery Programs at Optum Behavioral Health, following an impactful tenure as the Director of Integrated Behavioral Health at Kaiser Permanente’s National Offices.
With over 25 years of experience in healthcare, Dr. Bertagnolli brings a deep expertise in healthcare operations, quality measurement, and process improvement in behavioral health, suicide prevention, peer support, digital mental health, social determinants of health, and pain management. Dr. Bertagnolli earned a B.A. from Vanderbilt University, followed by an MA and PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology-San Francisco Bay Campus. He completed his clinical training at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and Kaiser Permanente San Francisco and holds clinical psychology licenses in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Utah, US Virgin Islands, Washington and Wyoming.
In addition to his professional roles, Dr. Bertagnolli is actively involved in several leading mental health organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness – California, and is a member of the Executive Committee of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention and the Academic Training & Education Standards Committee of the Association of Behavioral & Cognitive Therapies. He is also an Associate Professor at Alliant International University in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Dr. Bertagnolli is a recognized speaker and author, having presented internationally on topics including chronic pain management, depression, suicide prevention, digital behavioral health, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. His work continues to influence outcomes-based measurement and integrated healthcare models globally.
